Metropolitan Sports Academy got their Division 3 League campaign off to a blistering start following a stupendous slender 2-1 win over Krowor Youth today at the Mats Park in Teshie.
Head coach Maxwell Sintim paraded a formidable eleven for today’s crunch encounter featuring the likes of Justin Danso,Otsibu Darko, Eliott Kojo,Maharage Fuseini,safest pair off hands Nana Kwame and star striker Francis Offei just to mention a few who were up to the task in the opening embers of the game as Metropolitan Sports Academy came close on numerous occasions to fetch the opening goal however Krowor Youth’s goalie Kevin Asrah kept Metropolitan at bay with marvelous saves to keep the score cards blank.
Despite the early scare the visitors took the lead half way through the first half with ten shirted player Andy Ahahornu who latched onto a sweet pass before lobbing the ball over the unrushing Nana Kwame in post for Metropolitan.

It was a sumptuous finish against the run of play from Krowor Youth’s perspective who headed into the half time interval up by a goal to nil.
More so, right after recess the second half was a physical as the two teams went out with all guns blazing and lo and behold Metropolitan Sports Academy got their reward in the 54 th minute as goal poacher Francis Offei cathedral in on the moment by capitalizing on a goal area melee to arrow his strike into the roof of the net following a delicate in swinging corner kick from Danso Justin which caused mayhem in Krowor’s goal area.
As if that was enough Francis Offei doubled Metropolitan’s tally from the spot as he guided home his strike past Krowor’s shot stopper Kevin Asrah who couldn’t get to the end of Offei’s well dispatched kick despite diving towards the direction of the ball that found its way underneath his body.
Up by goals to 2-1 mid way through the second half Otsibu Darko’s synical tackle incurred the wrath of the center referee who had no option than to send Otsibu off for an early shower as coach Maxwell Sintim’s boys chased the last twenty minutes of the fierce encounter with ten men.
The introduction of Richmond Eghan,Dennis Ayi and Prince Atsu bolstered Metropolitan’s play despite going down by a man.
The last twenty minutes of the game proved to be a test of grit and resilience for Metropolitan Sports Academy who punched above their weight to snatch a hard laboured 2-1 win and all three points in a hard fought game to start their campaign on a brighter note despite their numerical disadvantage.
