The Pan African Association of Recycling and Secondhand Textiles (PARST) welcomes individuals, institutions, businesses, researchers, policymakers, and development partners committed to advancing sustainable recycling, circular economy practices, textile reuse, environmental stewardship, and green economic development across Africa.
Membership in PARST provides access to professional networks, training opportunities, research resources, conferences, policy engagement platforms, certification programmes, and continental partnerships.
1. PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP
Professional Membership is open to individuals actively engaged in recycling, waste management, textile reuse, circular economy, environmental sustainability, sustainable fashion, manufacturing, research, education, consultancy, policy development, or related fields.
Eligibility
Applicants should meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Hold a diploma, bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, doctorate, or professional qualification in environmental management, sustainability, engineering, textiles, waste management, circular economy, public policy, business, economics, fashion, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Be employed in recycling, secondhand textiles, environmental management, sustainability, manufacturing, research, academia, government, consulting, or development sectors.
- Be actively involved in initiatives that promote recycling, resource recovery, waste reduction, circular economy development, or sustainable textile management.

2. FELLOW MEMBERSHIP (FPARST)
Fellow Membership is the highest professional recognition awarded by PARST.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Have maintained Professional Membership for a minimum of five years.
- Demonstrate outstanding contributions to recycling, textile sustainability, circular economy development, environmental protection, policy, research, innovation, or industry leadership.
- Be approved by the Governing Council.
Benefits
Fellows may use the designation:
FPARST (Fellow of the Pan African Association of Recycling and Secondhand Textiles)
Fellows shall serve as ambassadors, mentors, advisors, and thought leaders within the Association.
3. RETIRED (EMERITUS) MEMBERSHIP
Emeritus Membership is available to retired professionals who have made significant contributions to the recycling, textile, environmental, or sustainability sectors.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be retired from active employment.
- Have been a Professional Member of PARST for at least five years or demonstrate distinguished service to the sector.

Emeritus Members shall:
- Participate in conferences and professional activities.

- Access PARST publications and resources.
- Receive reduced membership and event fees.
4. STUDENT MEMBERSHIP
Student Membership is available to individuals enrolled in accredited educational institutions.

5. ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
Associate Membership is available to individuals interested in supporting the objectives of PARST but who may not meet the criteria for Professional Membership.

8. HONORARY MEMBERSHIP
Honorary Membership may be awarded to individuals who have rendered exceptional service to recycling, environmental sustainability, textile reuse, circular economy development, or PARST.
Eligibility
Honorary Membership shall be conferred by the Governing Council based on established criteria.
Individuals may not apply directly for honorary membership.
9. PARST LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
The PARST Leadership Council comprises:

- Distinguished Founding Members
- Strategic Advisors
The Council serves as a think tank and advisory body to the Association, providing strategic guidance and supporting institutional development.
MEMBERSHIP ETHICS AND PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
All members shall:
- Uphold the objectives and values of PARST.
- Promote environmental sustainability and responsible recycling practices.
- Support ethical business conduct.
- Respect diversity and inclusiveness.
- Contribute positively to the advancement of the recycling and secondhand textile sectors.
Failure to comply with the Association’s Code of Ethics may result in disciplinary action, suspension, or termination of membership.
MEDIA AND EVENT PARTICIPATION CONSENT
By registering for and participating in PARST conferences, workshops, training programmes, study tours, webinars, exhibitions, and other Association activities, participants grant permission to PARST to use photographs, video recordings, audio recordings, and other digital media containing their likeness for educational, promotional, informational, archival, and professional purposes.
PARST may publish such materials through its website, newsletters, publications, reports, social media platforms, and other communication channels without additional compensation.
Participants acknowledge that all such materials become the property of PARST and may be used to advance the Association’s mission and activities
